Did they ever make a 12v generator for a Case V tractor?

Hey Kevin; A good 600CCA 6V battery will spin a VAC over with no problem. However, battery cable should be 2/0 with good, clean connections. Most of the hard start problems I have diagnosed with 6V systems came from old, rusted or sulfated cables, or cables too small for 6V systems.

I do not know the answer to your question but I suspect they did not. However, I am running my VAC generator at 12 volts by replacing the 6 volt cutout relay with a 12 volt one and using a 12 volt battery. The charge circuit is left intact but I installed a different headlight switch as the generator charged too much when the old 3 position switch was pulled all the way out. I am unsure of the wattage rating of the generator but lets pick 180 watts (6 volts at 30 amps), then the 12 volt setup should not be allowed to charge over 15 amps (12 volts times 15 amps equals 180 watts).

Lew, maybe can you help.

I wired my tractor properly yet I don't have any voltage at the coil. Could a faulty regulator be the cause. My tractor is a Case V and I noticed that it has a negative ground system.

I appreciate any info
