1370 stops moving when turning hard

Hey all, Quick question to see if anyone can help me out. My neighbor has a 1370 and he says if you are out in the field using it pretty good that when you go to turn around and may be trying to turn the wheel fast and hard that the whole tractor will just stop for a split second, then go, then stop again and do this until you let off the steering wheel. He said he had a problem with water in the rear end about a year before, but has replaced the fluid with Archer fluid. Thanks for any help.

Check your steering pressure first, The Steering and brake releif valve seats have becked out before now and if the steering pump is getting weak it will cause this. Even if the pump is weak you need to check this pressure as if you put on a good pump and this has happened you stand a chance of ruineing a new pump or even bursting a steering cyl. However the cause of dthe stoping is from a loss of steering return oil to the reverse lock out spool.

The steering return oil comes back past the cold oil relief valve and reverse lockout. If your steering and brake section of the hydraulic pump is weak and you bring the steering to the stops, the oil flow stops causing the problem. Check your steering pump flow and pressure after the oil is warm. The steering pump is the small side of the dual pump.

Dad's 970 did that, he had to change the hyd. pump. The 1270 & 1370 have a charge pump that pushes the oil up to the main hyd. pump. We had to replace one on a 1270 once, it caused the tractor to stop going up a hill. Might want to check that one first.
