I don't know anything about Case tractors. I'm more of a Ford man. But I'm not one to be brand loyal. I enjoy working on tractors. Just seen an ad in the paper. Reads:
"1957 Case Tractor with 3 point hitch and wide front end and blown engine. good for parts or repair. $300.00"
Thought it might be worth checking out. What do you guys think. Jump on it, Buy if rest of tractor looks good (tires, etc) Course you never know what one means by ‘blown engine’. Could have a hole in the block, hole in the piston, blown head gasket or other problems. If it needs a new block, got any idea on how hard it would be to find one and what I could expect to pay?
Did the tractors of this year have live PTO, Hydraulic. Where they good tractors?

Thanks for any info,
Carl

Where is this unit? I could very much use it as a parts tractor. For $300 it is a steal of you have use for it.

carl,

In 1957 case had 3 models with 3 pt , two

of which were quite popular - 300 and 400 -- one is much more rare - the 350 . 400 had true live

power, 300 had what case called constant running

power, glorified standard pto with hand clutch to

stop the wheels while the pto kept running. good

little tractor . I have a 300 and also have a DC

and 730 diesel both of which have true live power.
