Is it possible to take a 1070 pto housing and bolt it into a 1370 to make it a 540 pto? or can a grinder/mixer stand a 1000 rpm pto? or is there any way to switch a 1370 from 1000 rpm to 540 rpm?

thanks mike b

I don't think there's a way other than running tractor at 1/2 speed and use adapter. We do that quite a lot too. That thing still makes a lot of power at 1100 rpm. I was told (and this may be urban legend) that the policy for a few years was not to put 540 pto on anything over 100 horsepower. Figgered it was too much for the machine I guess.

Hey Mike; Have you tried using a 1000 to 540 adapter and just running the 1370 @ 1/2 throttle? I do it quite a bit.

The 1070 and 1370 pto housings are completely different and won't bolt up. I don't think there is any way of making a 1370 540 rpm. It has been asked several times on this board so you may want to search the archives, I may be wrong.
