Can anyone tell me what the correct casting number for the connecting rod for the A401 diesel should be, 1967 Row Crop, I bought this tractor used, overhauled it, had a couple bent connecting rods, The casting number on them is A27845, I know the 730 and 830 take the A24425 number, The 730 and 930 have a piston pin diameter of 1.3590 to 1.3594. And the 830 has a piston pin diameter of 1.5 inches. Some catalogs I have state the A27845 is a gas connecting rod, Please let me know what the correct rod for this tractor is and thanks in advance.
Mike from S.E. MN

I find the A27845 to fit 730 or 930 gas or diesel, and the 830 gas. It is the correct part for your 401 diesel. Don L.

Mike,

My connecting rod manual says A27845 fits 730 , 930 , A401d . Also says 401BD with 1.5 pin, must be bored larger. Further reading says A24425 also comes with one of the two sizes of bushing hole.

Parts Catalog CD shows rod #A28657 for both gas and diesel engines in the 1965-1969 930 DOM models. Search for your casting #A27845 showed no matches.
