I have a Rock Island built gasoline engine 1954 DC Case. It has live PTO, Eagle Hitch, dual spool hydrolics, foot clutch, adjustable wide front end, foot feed throttle, and a torsion spring seat. Were there any other options available that year? Also what is the difference between a Rock Island built DC and a Racine built? Is one considered more desirable than the other?

How about a factory hour meter, tools for the tool box, tire pump,20 gpm hyd pump, factory cushion for the seat, weights frt and rear on the wheels and another set for the frame, full steel was a option, idler pulley for belt work that goes on the wide frt.,resilient belt pulley, LP GAS or low cost fuel engine, spark arresting muffler,. Never heard of a Rock Island DC ! DCTOM will provide info soon.

How about radiator shutters and extended rear axles? An adjustable wide front would turn it into a DC3.

To my knowledge there were never any Rock Island built DCs... only Racine built ones.

What makes you think it's a Rock Island tractor?

I don't have my serial number with me right now, but as I remember the first two digits are 80. Also if I remember correctly, my 'Full Steam Ahead' book states all DC's starting with serial #80 were Rock Island built. To know the exact year of production one would need the number off the engine. Well, for me that's not an option in that I bought my tractor with huge holes through the block and a connecting rod or two missing! Also, I understand foot clutch was available only in '54. However mine didn't come with foot clutch either. I added this option.

Tom, I will check on that serial number. Now that you say it, I think mine does start with an 80. My tractor is stored at my brother's house for the winter. I'm having him get the serial number for me. Thanks, Glenn F.
