Hello all,

I am wondering who made the original carbs for the Case SC. I have a 1944 and it doesn't have any identification marks on it. My Dad has a 1945 SC and I just boiled out and rebuilt his carb and it has, Made in USA and the Zenith name cast right into the bowl assembly.

What gives.

Thanks for all replys

Dave

Dave,

There were three carb options for the Case SC that I'm aware of:

Zenith 9667-
third party image

Marvel-Schebler- (don't have the carb# handy)
third party image
(sorry for the crusty pic)

And lastly: Zenith 11535
(used on the later SC's with the larger pistons)
I don't have a picture of one- but I think they were alloy instead of cast iron...

I've asked before if the M-S carbs were for the dual-fuel tractors... because that's the only place I've ever seen them.

Does anybody know?

I just bought a vc case and it has a Marvel-Schebler carb. We poured gas in tank opened up the gas valve and gas flooded from the carb. Went ahead and pulled the tractor off and it cranked and ran(first time in 4 or 5 years). When I pulled the carb apart the bowl was stuffed full of ants. Bought a kit from local parts supply for $20 to get new gaskets.(It is just a gas tractor)

I had a magneto full of a carpenter ants nest once... never could figure out why my newly rebuilt magneto wouldn't fire on a consitent basis.

I made a lot of "blended ant" that day before I figured out they'd gotten in through the drain hole.

I can't believe your needle valve worked with ants in there... they seem to make a pretty good acid. (turned everything in my magneto green)

See what you mag guys get into???? Now if you had a distributor conversion there wouldn't be any coils for ants to nest in, seals up good and tight so they can't get in, vertical shaft (ants don't like to climb straight up) and so forth. I have never had ants in my distributor. :^) LOL

Just went through every SC parts catalog I have- no mention at all of a Marvel-Schebler carburetor for the SC. (there's one listed for DC tractors, though.)

I could've sworn I'd seen M-S carbs on SC's before... but maybe that one I've got on the '45SC is just an oddball put there by somebody other than Case.
