Been looking at a 1370, and now I have found a 1270 that I like just as much as the 1370. What is the difference between the two. Are they good tractors? What are the good/bad about these tractors.

I might have this wrong and please correct me if it is, but I think a 1270 has both 540 and 1000 PTO and 1370 is 1000 only.

Powershift, both are very good tractors. Our neighbors have a 1370 and we recently traded in our 1270. Some others point to look at. Early versions had lighter duty front ends and smaller rear axles than the later versions. Also the earlier 1270 was around 126hp and the later around 135hp. The same is true for the 1370, the earlier models were about 143hp and the later about 156hp. So its possible if the engines haven't been rebuilt or "turned up" to have a later 1270 in the same HP class as an earlier 1370. The transmission used in both is the same with the only differences I know of are the bolts that hold the clutch pack together as Shane noted. Also another small difference is that some tractors used a park lock on the range lever of the transmission and some had a park brake lever on the left side of the seat instead of the park lock. Both engines use the same basic confirguration and block layout with certain parts being heavier for the higher HP on the 1370. The 1370 has a 4 5/8 bore while the 1270 has a 4 3/8 bore. If they have been cared for properly they should both last a good while and provide good service. The need for a higher horsepower tractor is what made us trade ours in for a 7120 magnum. Hope this helps. Have a good one.

Both are really good tractors. You will want to ask if the powershift clutch pack has been updated on both, if not they tend to shear off the 3 bolts holding them on. I beleive the only difference is the 1270 uses the 451 cubic turbo engine and the 1370 uses the 504 cubic turbo. And I think the 1370 has one more clutch plate to handle the extra horse and torque that the 504 pumps out. Good luck and ask about the update cause it will cost about $3000 to have it fixed if the small original bolts shear off but don't let this scare you as we have one with over 15,000 hrs and never been opened up.
