I bought a tractor for $800. I was told it was either a VA or a VAC. How can I tell which one it is? This Tractor is a basket case. The engine is torn apart. It came with a rebuilt head and all the components to rebuild the engine. Did I get a good deal?

The VA had a standard wide front-end (non-adjustable). VAC can have any of the following front-ends: narrow dual wheel, single wheel, or adjustable wide front. I agree, you may have a fine tractor in your possession. Now you can have some fun putting it together. Good luck.

VAC is a sugar cane tractor and therefore a high crop design. I may be able to locate some parts if you are still looking. I should have a hydraulic pump. There is a VA with a very good engine that may be for sell if I ask.

I think if it is a narrow front, it is a VAC. The serial number will start with VA or VAC. If all the parts are there plus the rebuild kit, I think you are on your way to a fine tractor.
