My stepdad recently passed away. He had a 2290 Case he bought new. We have searched for owners manual w/o success. probably going to have to order one...anyways...We were getting it started by pulling up on a knob in where the gear selector is. I broke off the knob and cannot get it to move ---not really sure that even mattered? Is that the fuel shut off/on knob? I am a John Deere owner...and our farming operations were completely separate...so I know nothing much about the "particulars" on a Case. Mom will likely end up selling the tractor...a bit ratty, well used, window on door broke out---what is low dollar, engine and tires sound?

I had one some years ago which the fuel shut off there. Down to run, up to stop. I gave $8500 for it in '95 (and here they are selling for about that now) it had 2900 hrs and was in nice shape. Watch where the wiring harness drosses the torque tube under the cab mounts (right front corner of the cab). My cab mounts were a little worn and it pinched the wiring, I almost didnt get out of it.

Hey Huck: The fuel shut-off is a red knob on the dash. Pull to shut off. The shift lever must be in Park or Neutral to start, which is what you must be referring. But they moved fore & aft, side to side, not up. Starter engages with the key. Earlier 90 series might not have had a Park position. Parking brake was used. From the condition you describe, I wouldn't look for over 10K. Keep the ether can away!!

Hey John, I think you are talking about 70 series. On 90 series the fuel shut off is on the console and all 2290s had park lock.

Hey HuH: I have 2 (90) Series tractors, both of which have the fuel shut-off on the dash in front of the Operator. I have never seen 1 with a shut-off to the right of the Operator. The 4690 has no Park Position, my 2090 does have a Park.

Hey John,my 2390's had the fuel stop in the right hand console,as have the 2290's I've been around.Between the shifters and hydralic levers.
