This is my first experience working on a Case tractor. (have a few John Deeres) This 411b has been setting for several years, so am trying to see what all might be wrong with it. So I have a couple questions. First the junk dealer I bought it from says the motor is stuck, It is a gas tractor with Caseomatic trans. So how can I tell if it is stuck other than hooking a battery up and turning it over that way. Should I check for stuck valves first? I have drained all the oils out of it am going to put fresh oil in engine, trans, and hydr. Also the removeable hood pices over gas and oil fill caps, how do I repair the clips that hold those covers on?

This tractor looks like it is worth fixing up.

I am in eastern Ks. I have also been looking for a IT shop manual, but am really confused with the model numbers Case uses!!! I saw a IT manual for a 400B, but the picture on cover was not like my tractor. So What IT manual do I need?

I took the starter off and found the end housing of starter with the bearing in it was broken completly off the starter!!! So am gonna have to fix starter. But I took a crowbar and used it to turn the fly wheel. There was a little resistance but soon started turning very easy, so guess the motor was not stuck very bad!!!!

Now the other question? Are there replacement clips for the gas and oil fill covers mine are all broken off?

Do not know about that. Don Livingston (a name you will get to know very well while restoring a Case) has replacement doors for them. Give him a shout. If he can't find it it wasn't on a Case!

BEAUTIFUL! Nice to see another of these old girls that might be getting new life. You can take out the timing plug on the side of the torque tube and see if you can turn it with a screwdriver. If you have a good tight belt you could take out the spark plugs and see if you can turn it with the fan also. Either way should turn it with relative ease. Good luck!
