Hi ALL I just bought a case 300 forklift
they said the motor was smoking so i figured id go through the motor ive put a kit in the m&s carb the head was already off motor was wiped down with grease im lookin for tips from sum of you on what to look for the dealer said if the sleaves where not scorn bad i could just lightly hone them. Im up for any info thanks AJ

How much of a ridge is there at the very top of the sleeve? Most of the sleeve wear should be in the upper part. Everything wears except the last 1/4 inch of the sleeve. I think the rule of thumb is that if you have more than a .012" taper, the sleeves should be replaced.

Andy, you should measure the bore and you should check the taper of the bore. For all the work it is to tear it down this far, and the cost of the engine kit, why not rebuild it and then you have something to work with! I know where you can buy parts and save some money.
