Hi,
I just picked up a Case DC at a auction that was totally restored. I pay 1500 plus tax and i feel it was very good price. the ground was hook on the positive terminal and the positive on the ground. Did they have a positive because i know some British sports car had positive grounds. I was also wondering were the dipstick is on these tractor because i am more familar to the Allis Chalmers tractors. Also how do you turn off the flat belt pulley on them.
Thanks alot to all you who respond.

The tractor was originally negative ground. Someone may have changed it to positive ground. Most antique tractors were positive ground. If it is charging properly, I wouldn't change things. I replaced the oild level pulgs with radiator drain cocks on my Case SC to make it easier to check the oil, I assume that you could do the same to the DC? The old Farmalls had drain cocks. Does your tractor have a hand or foot clutch? On hand clutch tractors, the belt pulley has a brake on it to help stop the tractor. It works similar to the old JD,s hand clutches.

Most all of the six volt tractors of that era were positive ground. I have heard that Case tractors were positive or negative ground depending in which manufacturing plant they were built. Your DC does not have a dipstick. You check the oil with the two pipe plugs in the oil pan. The belt pulley will turn any time the clutch is engaged. You will enjoy your DC. They are great tractors. Sounds like you got a good buy.
