I have the opportunity to purchase a VAC-14. The owner told me it is a 1958, but no where have I seen a picture of one or any reference to one. Was the VAC-14 made in 1958, and when did Case go 2-tone? This one has a cream colored hood with original decals. Thanks in advance -- Russ in WI.

I read an article once that said some of the Case dealers repainted the sheet metal on the unsold VA series tractors when the new color scheme came out in 1956. I wonder if there is flamebeau red paint underneath?

AHA!! So it was 1956 that the new paint scheme came out? I haven't been able to find that out yet. When I inspected the tractor, there didn't SEEM to be any Flambeau Red underneath, but I'll have to look closer. The ser # is 6014632 so it was made in 1956, but I haven't seen any other tractors from that year with a cream colored hood. So it is possible that the hood on this tractor is correct, and the original color..... Can I find out any more information from the serial number anywhere? Thanks -- Russ figuring it out

I think the 200, 300, 400, etc. Series tractors came out in 1956. The hundred series tractors had the new paint scheme that used the desert sunset? (cream) color on the sheet metal with the rest of the tractor painted flambeau red.

Thanks dctom. Funny thing though.... All of the 1956s I've seen were all orange. The hood on this one is Case cream color. Think it's original?

Wow, this is interesting. My father's '48 VAC has the hood and sheet metal painted what was probably a cream color while the rest of the tractor was Flam Red. The sheet metal has decals and all. I just thought some moron painted it at some point after I found signs of Flam Red under the cream (around the gas cap is a good place to look - at least it was on my father's). Now I'm wondering if this is sheet metal off another, later model VAC that was put on this machine at some point before my father owned it. I always found it odd that someone might have painted the hood and sheet metal cream but bothered to put on the nice Case decals.

Pic of the tractor is here, though it isn't the best. You can see some Flam Red around the "CASE" lettering on the hood though.
