Why are some 1937 Case L's painted orange, and others painted gray? I read many posts where both colors are original for the tractor.

Flambeau red was introduced on the '39 model R ,no tractors were painted "red" before that.Now it maybe be that some dealers painted tractors still on the lot the new color ,or that not ALL '39 models got the new colour from the factory.As far as getting right down to the month of model introducing you will have to figure that out on your own!

I have a May 1940 L , looks like it was Flam Red from new. No grey any where. If Case started the red in 29 then that would tie up with mine. Yours should be grey

NO, ALL L'S WERE GRAY FROM THE FACTORY, SOME DEALERS PAINTED THEM FLAMBEAU TO MAKE THEM LOOK LIKE THE NEW TRACTORS BEING BUILT .FLAMBEAU WASNT INTRODUCED UNTILL 1939 DCTOM

FIRST PART OF YEAR WAS GREY AFTER OCT WAS RED. CASE YEAR ENDED IN OCT. HOPE THIS HELPS

I have a 1938 L (built August 1938). It was grey from new.
