I need help with a Case 1450 dozer. This tractor has had both final drives replaced, rebuilt the clutch paks in trans, also worked the control box on top of trans but to no avail this machine will not move in either direction. I cleaned the psi relief valve no change. I seem to have plenty psi at the valve body but the middle spool has very low psi. This works the high low or middle set of lower clutches. I need help or some thought on this if possible. Thank you for your time.

soFirst I thought is that you may have the holes in the shaft not aligned with the clutch packs but since you have low pressure I might be tempted to check the low range clutch pack at the bottom of the trans and also make sure that the sealing rings aren't broke. You might also check the small filter on the modulator valve.

Take the feeder cap for the high/low range clutches off the back of the transmission. Blow air into the port holes in the shaft. You should be able to hear the clutches click in. If not look for a problem in the clutches or the shaft.

I was headed there. I am at the point of starting from originalpoint and rechecking all. I have no psi on valve body to gauge tap. Do you know the psi values for the mod tap and the inport tap? Thanks for the input.

If you are getting no PSI at the gauge port the likely problem is the modulator valve. your gauge should read around 200PSI ( I don't remember the exact number) but it will either have the correct pressure or none at all when that modulator valve is acting up. The modulator valve is the spool on the control valve with the rod that goes to the center brake if your machine has one. It takes an inch and a half deep well socket to remove it. If you get it out you may or may not see anything wrong with it. If your problem is the modulator valve you can make the machine move by " jump starting " that valve. Tee that hose that goes to the pressure gauge into the pressure hose feeding the transmission valve. If that makes the machine move the problem is most likely that modulator valve.
