I have a nice 1370 Case I would like to use on a 654NH round baler, problem is the baler is 540pto and the tractor is 1000pto. How well will it work with a 540 - 1000 adapter and run the tractor half throttle? I alway have baled in the past with my 4440 John Deere , that worked out real good, I would just like to use the 1370 more. Thanks for any advice.

We have a 1570 that runs a NH #27 silo blower just like this, at about 1300-1400rpm, works great. You have to make sure to spend the money for the higher HP pto adapters if you've got a real load on the pto, these tractors will have the cheapies for lunch!

We have a Case-IH baler that you can convert to 1000 rpm by turning the right angle gear box around and putting a 1000 rpm yoke on the shaft. Maybe your baler is the same way.

Our 1070 has a reversible 540/1000 PTO stub. Pull a snap ring deal and flip the shaft around to get the end you need, then run engine at RPMs accordingly. Never had any problems with engine using different speeds. Not sure if 1370 if different style PTO though? Just my 2 cents.

Yes the 1270, 1370, and 1570's have a different pto system from the 1070's and smaller. It is much heavier duty and only 1000 rpm.

Hey Chris: With all that horsepower, that 1370 should play with the baler @ 540 PTO RPM. Try it, you got nothin to lose.

Keep an eye on engine operating temperature. Too high or too low is not good.

i tried a 2390 on the same thing 1500 rpm was 540 but it just didn't seem like it was enough to make the turbo work seemed like it was lugging to much i was thinking it was harder on the motor than wide open .
