I have just ran accross a 1956 case 300 diesel that runs and just needs a head gasket. How much are these worth? How rare are they? It is in usable condition and was curious if parts are scarce or can still be found. Here in california it is the only one that I have ever seen that is diesel. Thanks for any information. As far as the tractor looks, the metal work is decent and tires are about 70%.

don't assume the head gasket is the problem on that engine if it is leaking internally. The gd157 continental was a basket-case, plagued with sleeve and head issues. JR

JR, What types of head and sleeve problems? Id appreciate more info. Is the head weak on the 157 engine? Also would you know how rare the case 300 157 diesel is? Thanks again JR I appreciate the insight.

Parts are quite hard to come by for the Continental diesel engine. If you are just going to restore it and not use it hard, it will be just fine. 300 round nose diesels are quite rare.
