1370 problem

I have my neighbors 1370 in the garage. It is knocking and has been getting fuel in the oil. It apparently had filled the pan full to the point of running out the dipstick hole. There doesn't appear to be any slobering around the turbo like I would expect if it had an injector stuck or squirting instead of spraying. I loosened 2 injector lines at a time at the pump and ran it with no discernable difference in the noise. I assume from just looking at it that there are 2 seals that could be leaking in the pump, one on the camshaft that operates the pump pistons and one on the fuel supply pump.

I would be very greatly for any input from anyone that has had similar problems with the 504 engine.

Thank You
John Kinsey

Take retangular cover off side of inj. pump, work fuel primer pump and watch for fuel leaking/running down coil spring/s. Only eng. oil should be in this cavity.

John, I had this happen on my 1370 a few years ago, engine oil level would come up slowly. Mine was running fine, I used it until field work was done, I got it into town & had the injector pump replaced & no problems since, oil level stays right where it's supposed to. If that one is knocking, I would want to pull the pan to see if damage has already been done to the main & rod bearings, it wouldn't surprise me it has. I guess I'm lucky, mine was a slow leak & it was fixed soon enough to not do any damage..... ...Roger
