What are the typical repair cost for these tractors? What would it cost to rebuild the engines in of these? What would it cost to rebuild one of the transmisions? Please help me with this, this is my first time buying a farm tractor. I would like to know the repair cost of something like this before I go out and buy one I am also considering a JD 6030 as well..
thanks..

I have a 1370 and everything but the motor went dead on me. No hydralics, no shifting, nothing. It was running fine and Iwent to go to the field the next day and everything was dead. Has this happened to anyone else out there and what is it.

Repair costs are high, but these old 13's and 1570's will do the same work as a newer $60,000 used machine. Beware of the Deere 6030, some parts will get harder to find. The cap for the countershaft are not made anymore. You don't even want to think about a major engine failure on 531's.

If you have a dealer do the work, it can get expensive. I can't remember what we had in parts on the last powershift job. It was for a friends 870. You can get an engine kit from Don's Diesel, out of Lawrence, Kansas, for $895. This includes pistons, rings, sleeves, wrist pins, gasket kit, rod and main bearings. Case will get more for their parts, if you have them do the job. John Saeli might have a good idea what a powershift job would run. I think he's done them before.

To tell ya honestly to repair the tranny on one of these would cost more than the tractor is worth! But, by now most are already updated and fixed so that really isn't a major concern. They are really reliable tractors... tranny, powershift, rearend and especially engine wise. We have several with over 5000 hrs and never been opened up.
