Is there a formula to cheat a torque wrench? I need one to go to 400 ft-lbs and all I have is a 200 ft lbs wrench. Is there a mathematical equation to figure this out of is it trial and error? I don't want to go out and buy a wrench for one tractor if I don't have to.

Torgue multipliers should be available at any good rental place that rents tools. they come in 3 to 1 and 5 to 1 as far as Know.
We used the 5 to 1 to torque down the heads bolts on tug boat to 650 ft. lbs. We used a 1/2 in torque wrench set at 125 I think, it so easy I always wondered if the setting was correct.

Buy or rent another torque wrench or a torque multiplier

400 ft lbs is 400 pounds of pull on a one foot long wrench (or bar), or 100 pounds of pull on a four foot long wrench.
