After the informative replies I recieved on this machine, it has raised further questions with me if I should go ahead with what I had planned to do, or restore it to factory original. Your opinions will weight greatly on my desicion, here is the situation.

I purchased a original 210-b-h factory equipted back hoe. The information I have now recieved from multiple sources is that there were only a hand full of these made, and of those very few are still in operation. I did not buy it as a collectors piece, I bought it to use, and the price was right. I has a bad, beyond reasonable repair, back hoe bucket cylinder, and the main boom was cracked on both sides with much bangie or gurrillia welding done. And the front bucket dump cylinder mounts were welded up in much the same way. Other than that, tractor is pretty sweet, battery cover and grill are only missing pieces, and tin is straight with what appears to be the original paint around the rust spots.

My original intention was to dissassemble the hoe section, replace bucket cylinder, burn off bangie welds and reweld original beam ( already complete ) then add 1/4" plate from rear piviot plate to lift pin to give the beam better support, and repaint, as well as replace all pins and bushings. then do much the same to the rest of the machine, repaint, and add a 4 post rops cab. My initial plan was to paint it case yellow, but now I am unsure.

Would this piece be worth restoring to a factory original condition, and would it value be worth more as a restored piece or as a I had originally planned?

Since there was so few of these made, is it worth something?

I value your opinions and it will be a bassis for what I end up doing. I have stopped work on it untill I make this decision. Thanks..... .D.....

Your best bet may be to restore it to good working order as close to original as possible (and use the correct paint codes), but don't fret over minor details. At this point, its probably worth more as a working tractor. Even being somewhat rare, there doesn't seem to be a ton of interest from collectors for 'industrial' tractors. Unfortunately, the BH version isn't mentioned in Peter Letourneu's Case Buyers Guide for some reason.

There is a fellow mentioned in the archives here that makes grill screens for this tractor. Do a search for screens and you should run find his name and number. Seems like his name is Davis.

You've got yourself a good tractor. Repair it and work the heck out of it. You'll enjoy more that way.

Mike
