After some weeks with different problems with the spark, some questions and answers in this forum, and a lot of cranking, I decided to ask my father to tow me and my Case around the field. He brought his 1966 Ford 3000 and we connected the tractors with a thick wire. We were both excited by immediate smoke from the exhaust pipe. After some meters the Case started, and then stopped. Well it hasn't been started for about 40 years, so I was very happy although my hair was full of carbon particles from the exhaust pipe. We continued towing, and the engine started when I pulled the throttle lever almost to maximum, and died again after a few seconds. Once, it ran for half a minute, but very irregular and noisy. After that, it was very hard to even have a few beats.
I want to ask you experts here, what to do now. Myself, I think of new points, new spark plugs and a full cleanup of the carburetor. If I can find new points here in Norway....
Any suggestions from you guys?
Thanks!

Dear Steinar,
I believe that you should get a new set of spark plug wires as well. After all this time they probably contribute to a weak spark. I was fortunate enough to travel to Norway last year to pick up my daughter who attended college in Lillehamer. What a wonderful country. I did not see many Case tractors, however. Good Luck!

The carburetor probably needs cleaned. The fuel tank probably has a lot of rust and crud in it. I would install a plastic in-line fuel filter and a plastic in-line ball type shut off valve in the fuel line upstream of the filter. This will keep you from having to clean the carburetor more than once.
