I have located a 2090 with 8 speed trans and I think around 5000 hours for $6500. If this tractor is in decent shape is this a good deal??
How rare are 8 speed 2090s? An 8 speed is what I would preffer since those Power Shifts can give out and cost dearly to be restored What's your thoughts on it? I haven't looked at it yet I plan to later this week.

the only problem i know with the 8spd.is the high low seems to be the weak part mine works its way out going down hill talking to salvage yards the hihg/low is either wore out or sold.it is still handier than the 70 series, maybe not as tough but not near as nice as power shift the price is fair considering it is a cab air tractor.

I have read that on here in the archives about that hi low part in the trans giveing problems. It sure seems like a cheap price for a 90 series from what I see some of them are in the $20,000 range and many in the $10to$15,000 range I am talking about 22 2390s that I see advertised often. And a 2090 is just as nice the way I see it. R Wyler

friend has 2290 8 speed and a power shift, i prefer it over the power shift. the biggest problem with it has been shifting into reverse and getting stuck in two gears at once. plus the 8 speeds hold up much better if you decide to go pulling with it

Yes that is what I am thinking about I want it for a plowing discing tractor as well as drilling and other things I can't see how it wouldnt work well for me if it is in decent shape. R Wyler

If it gets stuck in two gears either a spool in the valve body is hanging up or a retard screw in the valve body needs adjusted.

Although it can be costly to fix a powershift most last a really long time without needing fixin. It can be just as costly to fix a blown engine too but that doesn't stop anyone from buying a used tractor. I wouldn't pay that much for only a 110 horse tractor with 5000 hrs and no powershift. We bought a really nice 2390 for $6400 and it is 160 horse. I would opt for a powershift model myself obviously, and the 8 speeds seem to be a low option tractor. I have never seen one around here but have seen several for sale so they aren't too rare.

I am suprised don't see 90 series advertised that cheap here I guess it depends on location. I will have to investigate this one and see how she looks. I wouldnt mind haveing an 8 speed myself. R Wyler
