Gas 148 Engine: Oil pressure reads 20 lbs when tractor is first started. When tractor warms up (180 F) oil pressure drops to 5 to 10 lbs. Useing 30 wieght non detergent oil. What causes oil pressure to drop?

If I recall correctly, check oil pressure hot but at full engine speed. 14-20 psi.

My guess is worn engine bearings. I would put a can of oil treatment (STP or equal)in it each time I changed the oil. Make sure you add it with the tractor running after you have put some new oil in it. Make sure you haven't lost the metal filter housing stem that goes up into the oil filter.

Great Improvement! Metal filter housing stem in place. Changed filter and oil. Added STP Oil Treatment (15 fl. oz.) while the engine was running. Oil pressure now at 15 lbs when engine temperature is 180F.
Thanks for your help.
