I AM TRYING TO PUT AN LA TOGETHER BUT THE NOS PISTON SLEEVE SET I BOUGHT IS NOT RIGHT. THE PISTONS ARE 4 5/8 BORE FLAT TOP CAST PISTON. WHEN INSTALLED THEY COME OUT THE TOP OF SLEEVE ABOUT .120-.130". THIS TRACTOR HAD 4 7/8 M & W KIT IN IT BEFORE. ANYBODY SEEN THIS BEFORE OR KNOW WHAT I HAVE GOT.

You have high comp pistons for the old all fuel head. The chamber in the head is very large and the piston will actually stick up into it a little bit. Thad

You have the high altitude (high compression) pistons. They are sought after by pullers, will give you some extra horsepower. To be safe, you should check clearance with the valves, but very unlikely there will be a problem.

THERE IS A PROBLEM. THEY ARE TALLER THAN THE HEAD GASKET. THEY WILL HIT THE BOTTOM OF THE HEAD. THE GASKET MEASURES .092" UNCRUSHED. WHERE THE PISTONS ARE .120-.130". THE OPENING IN THE HEAD IS AN OVAL AROUND THE VALVES ONLY. NOT ENOUGH ROOM FOR ALL OF THE PISTON.

I may have a set of new sleeves and pistons that come flush with the head. Have not looked at them in detail.Ph 507 433 0073 Don L.
