I read in the pages that the 1/2 gallon of 'Power Red' my dealer assured me was the correct color for my '56 401 may not be right, True or not? Also, sheetmetal looks tan to me, Dealer calls it 'Desert Sunset'....is this correct or not? I hope to paint before it gets cold(amazing how long restorations can go, isn't it?) and I want the correct match. Thanks in advance, Chris.

Your tractor would have originally been painted Flambeau Red and Desert Sunset. The Power Red was first used in the early seventies, and is supposedly a slightly different shade though so close that any dealer I've talked to has always told me they are virtually the same. In the last year my dad has repainted one tractor with an imron paint which is supposed to be the correct Flambeau paint code and repainted another with the Power Red from the dealer with a bit of hardener added to it to get it to gloss up and I cannot tell any difference. The dealer is correct about the desert sunset which is readily available from Case though a bit of hardener added to it does wonders for the gloss of it as well. I am not sure what the hardener used was but it makes a world of difference. Hope this is some help
