Am getting ready to paint a 1960 Case 830. First ever tractor project and I am looking for some advice. Does anyone know, or can recommend, the best place to buy paint for this tractor. I have been told that the paint supplied by Case stores is not quite the same as the original paint. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I just got done painting one. I used the OMNI line from PPG. The paint code for the PPG desert sunset is 81357. This is an old number so you will have to call PPG and have them fax the formulation to your paint dealer. I am very pleased with the outcome. The paint was a bit difficult to get the coverage with out getting runs. There are lots of discussions on the pait and bodywork forum about PPG paints.

Rick, The correct paint for the 830 is flambau red, for the body and desert sunset for all the tin work case dealers can still get the paint. Don't let them sell you the POWER RED it is close but not the same allso Tractor Supply has the flambau red and the Desertsunset allso Dale In Tx.

Rick,

Do a search in the archives on "paint" or maybe "paint codes". There have been a bunch of discussion on paint codes. Also - check the paint codes link under "Research and Info".
