i tore down a cummins today w/exsessive blowby rods an mains are dated 2-02 look good comp.rings are .045 end gap but the oil rings are 1/4 inch at least why so much? turbo appears to be same age as rods an mains but is also shot, to much play and has actualy ben dragging some .the oil rings seem excessive any ideas?

Mt guess maybe bad air filtration or hauling it long distances without stuffing the ex stack. I have seen turbos get ruined that way then all the gringings from the fins wearing pass thru the eng. Just my thoughts Thad.

I don't know about the oil ring gap, but I've seen a bad turbo cause high blowby- blowing through the oil drain.
