My '77 1370 is having some clutch issues. It doesn't seem to be disengaging completly. I can't get it into gear unless I really pound it down to the floor hard (at which point I usually hear the engine pull down momentarily like it's ready for me to shift) and when I do finally get it into gear it doesn't want to shift between forward and reverse on the powershift unless I do the same thing. Also, the pedal doesn't want to return up (engage) without help. What could be causing this? Mal-adjusted clutch or ??

i think they had a series of linkage &swivle joints that were bad to wear hard to get adjusted 1270 had it i know just before they came out with the cable operated clutch i had trouble when i got it to release then it was out the other direction trial an error.

You could have sticky valves in the valve body, but it could just be the linkage from the pedal to the valve body sticking or binding. Blow the dirt out of there and see if can be freed up. And yes, they like to stick. There is also an adjustment length for the valve position but my book is out in the shop. If you need it i'll post it tomorrow

If the valves are sticky then what? What's the worst case scenario do you think?
