448 Case Stalling after cold starts

My 448 Case / hydrostatic with a 18 hp Onan engine has been running great all summer until the other day. I had used it for some heavy mowing for about four hours and then started it the next day. After starting it and heading out of the garage, it seemed to go under load - no unusual noise and stalled!! The engine would not even turn over and I began to investigate thinking that the Hydraulic pump may have frozen up.

The engine oil was a pint low and the next day I removed the hydraulic reservoir and loosened the hydraulic drive shaft key and was able to turn the engine shaft with a wrench. I then try to start the engine and it started right up and the friction on the shaft and the coupler was enough to turn the hydraulic pump for is shot oil every where. Thus, I spent time putting the tractor back together and guess what, it started right up for about 30 -45 seconds, went under load and stalled. The starter can not even turn the engine after this happens. Any ideas what may be wrong?
