My 1175 bit the dust yesterday. (77model) Sounds like my crank may be shot. What does a complete overhaul for this mochine run in your areas? Any better options? Thanks...

Shoup(1-800-627-6137) has an engine repower kit at $1169. Hopefully, the crank is still O. K. By the time you get the valves ground it looks as if you are going to have ~$1400. in parts. If you have to hire the overhaul labor it will come close to the price of the parts even if you shop around and do not go through a dealer. I would check the cam bearings, water pump, an oil pump for wear. Good luck

If it has a pile of hours make sure the sleeve bottom bore in the block is in good shape. I've done them here (Ontario) for anywhere from $6000.00 to $8000.00.

On page 1 of the Tractor Talk Discussion board is a man with a JD2275 that probably would like a pep talk regarding the finer points of your make of tractor. Maybe you could do some research and convince him its an operator problem but I don't know how you are going to explain away the weld in the block where a piston came through in a previous failure. Could it be devine intervention and it was struck by lightning? How about sticking to your own board when you feel the need to boast. Besides its bad manners and there are more people over there that want to rally to your cause and they will overlook the source.

Now lets not lower ourselves to someone elses level by running down their favorite tractor in a derogatory manner.

You must worry about it part of the time or you wouldn't be over here looking at the CASE forum

If nothing runs like a Deere then a Deere runs like nothing.
I have not been able to get "nothing" to run at all.
