Went to bid on a case 1470 TK today in a Minnesota snow storm today. It was a beauty, good looking tractor with a 3 point hitch.Overhauled 100 hrs ago.Went to $5000.00 on it and quit.Sold for $5100.00,sorry I didnt go a little farther.Kicking myself for not.My Question is,my 1470 does not have crab steering, only front turning. Is this rare and better than the crab steer.Dave Ahlgren,(looking back!)

Dave, I saw that sale bill. It said the tractor was overhauled 800 to 900 hours ago. I called the auctioneer a few days ago and he was talking 500 hours. Now it's down to 100 hrs? Hmmm. I have to wonder about the credibility of the auctioneer's info.
About your question, Case offered the 1470 as a 2 wheel steer to stay competitively priced. They offered the 4 wheel steer as an option for $825.00. Most of them I've seen were 4 wheel, but supposedly they didn't need the option out in the flat, wide open wheat country. As far as I know, all 1200s were 4 wheel steer.

It should have a seperate lever beside the seat that controls the rear steering.

never seen one with out crab steer or all 4 wheel steer. I know on my 1200 the front does not turn very sharp, but with the rear it will. Are you sure someone did not just unhook it.
