I have two 12-20 tractors and am trying to restore one of them. One of the engine blocks is cracked and I am wondering if they are interchangeable because the crank shaft stays with the frame.
Thanks for your help.

Brian, Yes, if you unbolt the block from the frame and unbolt the rods also remove the oil pump from the bottom first. The crank will stay in the frame. The problem with just trading blocks and sleeves would be that your rods babbit is a match to your existing crank. If I was in your shoes and my sleeves and pistons were usable in your cracked block, I would trade your usable sleeves and pistons over to your good block! I think you would save yourself alot of headaches. Or if you are real lucky you can run your old piston's and rods in the good block's sleeves and not have to do any sleeve swapping. These sleeves seem to knock out fairly easy and the seal on the bottom can be reused! Just clean everything real well before installing and don't remove the seal if it looks o.k. Now by chance would you have a extra set of oil pump gears or 1 front and 1 rear wheel you could let go? My E-Mail is open. Bobcat
