Martin,

I didn't think about it earlier, but I couldn't buy a 7/8 inch one , no longer made. I had 11/16 and 13/16 , mac tools used to make the 7/8 . My 382 and 403 cont'l engines have a row on the push rod side like the 148 case , but larger. I made a wrench out of some broken tools. Send me an email and I'll get some pict's of the crude but useful one. gmachine@aahawk.com

Speaking of crude extensions, I found this one that I made up to use on my first Case tractor while looking for the Snap-on ext. 43 ft lbs on that union nut = 62-63 ft lbs on the cyl head nut if I remember right.

I think Keith (Ore) has the best solution, an old style bending beam torque wrench and a ground down 11/16" socket.

Hope this pix works.

Joe,

I didn't spend any money on these, just used

some broken junk and added a little weld. As long as the offset at the top equals the offset at the bottom
torque reading is correct. Here is a picture of
the ones I made to cover for the store bought ones
that I didn't have or can't buy.

Now I wished I had thought of that. Must have taken me an hour to come up with a repeatable leverage compensation for the one I made up. I've been out of training too long to calculate something like that.

If that don't make your day, I paid a Case dealer $96 + S&H for the Snap-on torque ext that I bought later. I guess my EX was right when she said I have more money than brains (heck I was totally broke when she said that.....Hmmmmm ).

Hey Joe, Just used that beam torque wrench and socket yesterday, and to think I was going to throw it out a while back. Sure is a lot cheaper and works as well as the expensive extentions...
Keith...LMAO

Extension is "under rocker arm" type. 11/16" box end and 1/2" sq drive. Case p/n CAS1257 probably discontinued. Snap-on S8663B about $50.
