I have a Case DC-3 with a Auto Lite generator on it. This think has a regulator on top and there is only one wire on the whole thing and it is attached to the regulator on the battery terminal which is the only terminal on it. There is no field or armature terminal wires on the gen. itself. The wire seemsto be hooked up to the new amp guage ok but it is not showing a charge? how do you polarize these or do you? It is a 6 volt system.

Thanks!

Sounds like your generator has the original cut-out relay on it and not a voltage regulator. If so, it doesn't have to be polarized. Is it a real small box? All it does is to shut off the flow of electicity when you stop the tractor. You can remove the cover and make sure the contacts aren't stuck. There should be a resister on your light switch to prevent too much current from getting to the lights. Are you getting power to the generator fields from the battery?

Ok does it still have to be polarized and if so which wire is which? The battery terminal is at the back of the regulator as in the back of the generator. Or if they do that does it even need polarizing and do i need a new regulator? Thanks!
