Dozer will move forward and backwards when both brakes are pulled at the same time, but will not turn when one or the other is pulled back.

Pull the back cover off the transmission an look in at the differential. They tend to come loose and fall apart. The long tie bolts come loose. Your crawler has a Clark transaxle in it, basically the same as used in the little HG and OC3 Cletracs.

Sounds like the steering clutches are stuck. Has it been sitting for a while? Sometimes, you can fill the clutch case with kerosene up to the throwout bearing and run it until the clutches free up. Then, as soon as they free up, drain the kerosene and run until they dry. You may have to readjust the clutch during and after, in order to get it to open up enough to let the rust fall out. May be best to pull them and clean them properly. That way, you can see what kind of shape they are in, see what (if anything) you need to do to fix them.
Good luck!

Dale, Case did not use a steering clutch in any of
the crawlers. The 310 that paul has trouble with
is a controlled differential and only uses internal
brake bands (in the trans oil), The larger tractors
all use hyd clutches inside the trans.

Paul ,it sounds like you have lost either the shaft from the diff to the final drive or something in the final drive.

George, Thanks! I didn't know for sure, as I have been around few Case machines - B and C series - and have only seen a couple 310's. I am more in sync with A-C and somewhat with Deere. Case was never a popular machine in my area, but the couple I have run were VERY excellent machines. Thanks for the heads-up, I seem to learn from here most every time I read. Dale

Thank you all for the help.I took off the back cover and all the gears turn when I put the tractor in gear and let out the clutch, but the tractor does not move unless I pull the brakes back. All the gears move as does the shafts that go to the sprockets. It is still a mystery to me.I will take the trans cover off this week and take a look at that.Paul.
