I will be going to look at a DC soon,as I'm unfamiliar with case tractors,I have a couple of questions. It has the wide front end, hand clutch, and Eagle 3point hitch, can any 3 point implement be used with this system? Also I've been told that the pto shaft is quite high on the tractor making a severe angle of the driveline to a 3 point brushog,is there a work around for this or must you use a trailing mower? and one more,It is said to have a 3 speed transmission, yet in searching the archives I get the impression that it should be a 4 speed, did these have a hi-lo trans.which could be causing the confusion? Thanks in advance, appreciate any suggestions. g.s.

DC Cases will use category one 3-point tools on an Eagle Hitch. The PTO is high but much closer to the standard 14" above the drawbar than a FORD PTO which is about 5" above the drawbar and causes holy hell on every implement other than a brush hog. Brush Hogs must have been designed with Fords in mind. A trailing mower would let you adjust the PTO driveline gradually upwards to eliminate chattering. A DC with an Eagle Hitch is going to be a four speed. Good Luck!

The tractor should have a 4 speed transmission with a top speed of 10 mph. Very few early dc's had three speed trans. because they were still using the cc parts at the start of production.

The first few hundred in 39 had 3 speeds, everything after that had the 4 speed. I am not sure if the three point stuff will work on it or not, I think it does but I am not sure. My DC is sporting a big motor and doing tractor pulls for its living now, no more farm work for it.

As far as I know, you can use standard 3pt hitch stuff on one. Some of the other guys heer might help with that. The PTO is insanely high on these things. Really doesn't hurt anything too much, but it is harder on the driveline. I don't really see where there would be a difference between a 3 pt mower or a trailing one. Also, as far as I know they all have 4 speeds. No high low, just a 4 speed.

Early DC's .were updated CC's, with 3 speeds, but there were not many and they were exported. All others have a 4 speed, definately if it had the eagle claw hitch it is a late model. All are straight 4 speeds , no hi-lo. While it might look high neither my brother or I have ever had any driveline problems on our DC's, with either mounted or towed implements.
