I need to split my L to find the noise coming from the clutch / transmission area. I used a stethoscope to listen to the bearings while the clutch was engaged. The shaft bearings sound fine, but I think the engine clutch shaft bearing is the problem. Any pointers before I start? I have split other tractors and have the manual. Does the first reduction shaft (belt pulley) seem to have bearing problems? Any help would be appreciated.

The Clutch shaft bearing is the usual culprit. If you need gears I have used ones. They are easy to split, 'cause there's no linea, wires etc to speak of. Just heavy. Work careful.
