Any thoughts on a 1070 ( in desert tan ) paint with standard transmission, 7400 hrs on hourmeter, Good solid looking tractor with 540 pto, good glass in cab, ect. How old is it to be painted desert tan. Owner is retired and says aside from a seat it is ready for work. Will see what it is worth on sat. at the auction.

WOW an 8 speed 1070! I think Ive only ever seen one of those before.
Wish my poweshift was an 8speed.

I think their needs to be a question answered first,, at 7400 hrs has it been rebuilt? Cauase if she has Id say she's worth between $7000 and $8000,,,, If she hasnt been rebuilt, $5000 to $6000. We bought are powershift in 96 and it had been rebuilt and had a Turbo put on and she was crankin out over 126 HP,,, we got her for $6100,, Good strong cheep tractor.

That one is a early one, 1970 through 1974. It should have both 540 and 1000 pto.

CASE 70 series that are desert tan (yellow) were built from 1970 through 1973. We took deliverly on a new 870 in March 1974 and it's white & red.

It's also an 8-speed and I often wish we would have got the power shift. Back then it was about a $400 option.

Also if the PTO has a snap ring at the base of the shaft, you can remove the ring and pull the PTO shaft out and reverse it for 1000 R.P.M. (don't forget to put the snap ring back on.)

I was thinking it was a year later than it was. Haven't seen any red/white 870's, only yellow ones around here.

Good old tractor, I don"t recall any major problems with ours...don"t worry too much about the gears grinding(unless it"s excessive)when shifting. I think all the case tractors in the 30"series and 70"series make great gear burgers.
