I wouldn't call it a restoration by any means but it is as far as I planned to go with it. Just wanted to preserve it and keep the rust from continuing. I used Martin Senour synthetic enamel, reducer and synthetic hardener for a top coat (about $100). I primered it with XIM (about $50). That XIM primer is awesome, sticks to anything. I did most of my rust removal with a wirebrush, ovencleaner, and pressure washer. Time to put her back to work!!

You're done, it looks great. I am just beginning, trying to get her to run. Any idea what the valve lash should be on my 1963 310B? Thanks.

Really great Ed. Does the yellow color have a name or is it a custom mix? Goes with the red very nice.

Thanks Joe, I went with "School Bus Yellow". It is very close to the same color yellow that the new excavators and big backhoes are (Cat, Deere, Japanese, etc) but this yellow is a "pre-mix" that is available right off the Napa shelves. It is a little more glossy that I would like but it should fade with sunlight. It is very thin and fast drying, i.e. easy to spray, but would take several coats to get a deep gloss look. I only used one gal but could have gone through 2 or 3 if I had them.

Thanks all for the comments! And the help in getting this thing together!

I bought a dozen rattle cans of "tractor & implement" paint that pretty much matches the new Cat color. I am just doing the tractor tin for now, maybe do the loader next summer.

BTW new post above for you, don't want to hijack this thread.

Joe
