A local gent offered to trade me his IHC "H" for the DC Case I've had for about a year but have done nothing with.I decided not to trade but instead to fix up the Case as it may have some value.( It runs pretty good)Antway,The hood was held on with 3 different gauges of wire.I knew that it should be just one size, what size should it be?It looks like some sort of bolt or fastener would hold it on better. What might that be? Thanks,John.

The size probably doesn't matter. Just get a fresh hay bale(with wire) and cut them all from the same piece. Much easier to handle than 'bob war.'

Case changed the hood a couple of times during the production run, but I am pretty sure Case always used bolts to hold down the hood. Here is a picture of a late model hood. The older tractors, pre 1952, used bolts as well so, I think your wire is a "cobble job". Find the year, get a parts book off of ebay, or post a picture on the forum to find out for sure. LOL!

The slots are for side pannels used on stationary engines. They used the same hood.

The side covers that fit in the slots were also available for tractors as well as stationary engines.

I have a set of original side covers on one of my LA. They came with the tractor when new.
