I've got a 2090 case with the 8 speed transmission. It is very hard to shift into high or low range. The cable works freely. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas. The colder the weather the harder it gets and winter is coming. It's been hard to shift since we got it with 2800 hours 5 years ago. I broke the plastic shifting quadrant yesterday and decided i'm tired of it shifting so hard.

I just bought a 2090 with a 8 speed standard and it's doing the same thing,I'm wondering why it shifts better when the motors not running, it has a different kind of clutch (hydraulic) I tightened the frame around the shifter it helped a wee bit, but I dought if the tractor came from the factory like this.

this is a long shot but i bought a 5130 very hard to shift it was were the shift shaft comes out the side of the trans guess it had gotten rust i used penetrating oil an a hammer pecked on it regularly for a week finally loosened up might check that you said the cable was loose i know the power shift cable can get stiff but still feel free to pull by hand an a new one does wanders.
