530ck cltch vibration

I have a 530ck dry clutch with a shuttle shift. Last weekend, with the cluch pushed it, a vibration, like a bad bearing would occur. When this happens, the gears grind when shifting, like the cluch is dragging. It doesn't happen all the time and with the clutch out, is fine. Anybody have ideas? I'm thinking the pilot bearing. The engine was rebuilt just before I bought it two years ago. Throw out bearing does't look bad either. Thanks for any help.

Hi,
Its more of a loud rattling noise than a vibration? Mine did it when I would turn the engine off with the clutch in. I was having problems with smooth shifting so I lowered the engine idle to factory spec's and it usually does it everytime now. I try to keep my engine idle speeds higher than spec for better oiling but couldn't do with this gas 530. Sounds like I'll be changing a pressure plate someday too.
I've seen our noise discussed on the forum before too.
Best, Dennis.....

The noise only occurs when the clutch is pushed in? The problem is the clutch pressure plate. There is excessive tolerance between the pressure plate's friction disk dogs (NOT the clutch disk) and its carrier. While the noise is annoying, it will not cause any harm. Eventually, you'll want to replace the pressure plate.
