I am in the market for a three point rear blade for snowplowing purposes. A recent sale on Ebay has me absolutely amazed. A 5 foot USED Woods blade sold for $237.50. Good grief!! I can buy a NEW 6 foot blade out of Northern or Central Tractor for less than that. I have been to many auctions, estate sales, garage sales, etc, and firmly believe that used products should never fetch more than two thirds of their "new" value. If anybody in Western New York has implements they are interested in selling (at a reasonable price), drop me a line.

But have you looked at teh cheap construction of the "New" cheapy blades...Woods usually makes a pretty stout product....

So you would take 2/3 of the price for your VAI WHAT IT COST NEW?

Well, since it cost in the area of $1,400 new in 1953, and I paid substantially less than that last fall at a municipal auction, if it were for sale (which it isn't) 2/3 would put me in pretty good shape (these tractors arent made of gold). As for quality of blades, I am looking to push snow, not start strip mining. A blade is a blade. If you bend a blade pushing snow, its time to move south. Thanks for the input.

I love your attitude. Makes me want to know you a little better. You think like I do. I get in trouble all the time for being blunt.

If you take that $1400 and bring it up to todays price it would about $14,000 2/3 of that is a pretty steep price don't you think.

Like you I think some people pay an awful lot for some things on e-bay but if you keep looking you can find a good price for one, the only trouble wil be the shipping it will kill you.

A guy on another list told about a good buy on a worn out and rusted tire and rim for only $10 but the shipping was $28 Bummer that would kill it for me.
Walt
PS keep up the good work.

Thanks for the input Walt. As far as buying used anything, if its not a bargain, I dont need it right now. I have seen prices go sky high at real auctions as well. Some people believe that if it is at an auction, it must be going for a reasonable price. Mistakes like that simply drive up prices for the rest of us. As far as shipping a tractor implement, that would be out of the question. Farm implements on Ebay would have to be driving distance from the buyer in order to make the transaction worthwhile. Take care.
