I have a 1959 440H case wheel loader that fianly gave up. It has the 148 CID "B" gas engine. I have a 1959 310B-H wheel loader With a 148 CID gas engine. I was wondering if parts are interchangible between the 148 & the 148B engine? Will the 148 from the 310B-H fit into the 440H in place of the 148B engine? What is the difference between a 148 CID gas engine & the 148 CID "B" gas engine?

I think one block has a 2 bolt starter and B has 3 bolt starter and won't swap as a complete engine. Do this search in the archives: "Case 148 and 159 gas engines" You'll see the reply when I was asking a similiar question.
Best, Dennis.....

I would think the engines should interchange, but I'm no expert. Try asking John Saeli (jsaeli@rochester.rr.com). There is a 148 c.i. engine up for auction on Ebay, see link below.
