I have a 2290 just overhauled power shift. Lugs engine in 1st and kills it in reverse. Have tried cleaning spools and valve body many times. Does anyone else have any idea.

If it does not lug it in 2nd and 3rd, you most likely have a problem with C-3 internally. You may want to check the pressure on C-3 at the valve body but most likely one or more of the plates in C-3 are pinched or stuck.

C-4 clutch plate is hung up.
Had the same thing happen to our 1070. After trying it for the first time the tractor seemed to work harder in 1st. When put in reverse tractor would kill.
We took it apart again and the c-4 clutch plate had moved when we put it together.
Hope this helps, Case400

If this has just been rebuilt and has not worked right at all then you have an internal problem. The C3 clutch is hung up. It is easy to drop a plate during rebuild. The powershift will have to come back apart and put back together to correct this. BTDT. Stan
