Hi!

on a Case 2290 -- I had to pull the pto assembly to replace a sheared key. I"m using the 540 PTO. I noticed that the spring and retainer clip that puts pressure on the PTO shaft when in 540 position - is missing.

I don"t plan on using the high speed but with the spring pressure gone, I noticed a lot of end play when using pushing in on the 540 shaft.

I"m guessing the previous owner did this to avoid breaking pins. Will this cause me any problems or should I install a new spring and clip?

thanks,

Dont have experience with 2290 but if similar to 1070 dual speed you definatly need all parts in place . They are there for a purpose.
