I am writing this for a friend who doesn't have net access. He has a Case 450 Diesel crawler and it wanting to know the serial number breaks for this machine, as well as any other info (rarity, problems assoc. with them, etc). As of right now, he says the motor is stuck. He is planning on restoring it and has no plans of selling it. According to him, it is in good shape and he will not need very many parts at all. I personally haven't seen it, but he says it looks like a Moline crawler. Does anyone have any pics (on here or online somewhere) of them? Thanks for all your help guys.

Older model 450's had the 188D engine rated at 50 hp and the later 450's had the 207D rated at 52.5. Both were very reliable but don't plan using the brakes, after repair, they glaze up quite fast and are that's it. Learn to use the two speed levers to turn, that way you'll have brakes when you need them. Another point to remember is when shifting from forward to reverse, let up on the throttle, those lever will give you a high pitch voice. Compared to the larger Case crawlers, the 450 was easy and fun to work on. The transmission is about the same as the 850 except for the brakes are smaller, mechanical hi-lo range, and final drives. If I remember correctly, the clutches were the same. That's what made the unit so dependable. Hope this helps.
