Moving a Dozer

My Dad owns a Case 650G, which I know is a little new for this arena, but there are a lot of knowledgable guys out there about dozers in general, so I figured I give it a shot. The dozer is 8 feet 8 inches wide, too wide to be hauled without a permit here in Texas. A friend with a huge Cat dozer used to move it with his trailer truck, but had to get a permit to move it every time. So, he sold the truck and got a dolly for the trailer and now pulls it with a tractor. This way, he says it is all farm and there is no permit needed. Should we get a fifth-wheel type rig like this to pull behind our tractor to move our dozer? Any other ideas that some of you may have used in the past? Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks guys.

Your questions can be answered first by angleing the blade. Makes it easy.

As for the type rig, the questions you have to ask is how far do you intend to move the machine and is time important. We have a home made trailer that we use from farm to farm for the last 15 years but are now looking for a standard trailer and truck. I need a hauling permit because the blade is 10'2" and can not be angled. It is in part is due to the fact that DOT boys in IA do not like the thing and have a cow each time they see it. There are still few guys how use a 4x articulated tractors to move their equipment but that is getting to be less popular

if your only 8ft 8in wide you can get to a legal with by angleing the blade.I do this all the time when we haul.
